Hit Confirm: a Brief History of Character Design for Video Games with Tyrone Barnes
Limited Capacity filling up

Video games are the only mainstream art form in which the audience is not just present, but rather participating in the story. Its characters are not ones to simply be watched, but “used.” How does one find a way to make a compelling character that is just as much fun to use as to watch? Game designers have come up with a lot of answers to this question over the years. Come sit down with Tyrone Barnes to see a brief summary of them! Q&A afterwards.

Space is limited to 20 attendees, so please add this to your My Sched to reserve a spot!

Intro to Game Design Theory (So You Want To Make Games?) with Jake Heagy
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Game design is the art of conceptualizing goals, rules, challenges, and rewards to define board games, card games, role-playing games, video games… you name it. With the rising popularity of board games and video games, the need for strong design is becoming ever more essential. In this workshop, students will learn to theorize and analyze popular video games and attempt to convert those games into paper and pencil games. As a class, we will decide on a popular video game and discuss the elements of that game (the rules, characters, challenges, rewards, etc.) that make it unique. From there we will interpret the elements and figure out ways that we can adapt them into a board or card game format. (Ages 10 & up)

Space is limited to 20 attendees, so please add this to your My Sched to reserve a spot!
